Connect the Dots

Connecting The Dots

Martin Shultz, APS lobbyist at the State Legislature, was appointed to the School District Redistricting Commission by state legislators – and then was elected to be the Commission’s chairman. While serving on the taxpayer-funded Commission, he's also raising money to pass the School District Merger Proposal from the business community  including APS shareholders.

Lobbyist Resigns From Commission To Manage Political Campaign

Jay Kaprosy, a high-powered business lobbyist and a member of the School District Redistricting Commission, recently resigned so he can manage the political campaign to pass the Mega-Merger Proposal.

Kaprosy has already recruited fellow lobbyists from the Arizona Chamber of Commerce to assist his campaign. And, even though the Mega-Merger will raise property taxes, the Chamber of Commerce has dedicated its manpower and the money of its members to pass the proposal to wipe out the Madison School District.

Big-Box Education

Many people are wondering how lobbyists became such experts in education … when big business started caring so much about our schools … and why the chairman of the commission is trying to raise millions of dollars for a political campaign to create a Mega School District?

The business community is trying to impose a Wal-Mart business model on the education system – because they believe bigger is better. If it’s up to big business, our children will end up getting a Big-Box Education.

None of it makes sense. That's why Bob Robb, columnist for The Arizona Republic, wrote: “Forcing a vote on all these proposals makes no sense. Since, to add insult to injury, the school districts have to pay for the elections – diverting yet more money from the classroom.”
